Hi All,
I have been asked to carry out some remedial works on a commercial site, following a recent EICR (by another contractor).
The insurance company, and site owner are after some kind of paper work saying the installation is safe. However, as I didn’t carry out the initial EICR, I wouldn’t be unable to give them a satisfactory report without retesting all (600+!) circuits.
Would the unsatisfactory report, along with my itemised invoice for remedial works be acceptable?
Many thanks in advance.

I would have made that suggestion if the question was asked and the same answer not been given by yourself

I see that as a very acceptable procedure.with the addition of certification for the works carried out included

put a price in for remedials, if you get them do the work and then the original inspector should come back and issue a satisfactory report, that's usually how it works.

If you are undertaking the remedial works based on an unsatisfactory EICR then I would tend to reference the EICR observations with your repairs, either in the installation certificate or on a a covering letter.

So Repairs to installation in reference to EICR number XXXXX,
4.16 grommets provided for cable entries, etc.

or if there is loads to do just say repairs addressing all C1 and C2 observations on EICR XXXXX.(if that is what you are doing!)

Thanks for your replies guys. Unfortunately the testers left the site on bad terms, so I think it unlikely they would be invited back to retest!

er no its not.
the remedials contractor should issue a covering letter confirming defects from the pir have been addressed along with any appropriate MWC's.
the original inspector does not need to return to site or issue any further reports / certs.
