Hi

I am looking to make up a case of screws and one for bolts.
Rather than buying a set of all sorts, and having a load of un-needed sizes, I thought I would make one up myself.

So what are the common screw and bolt sizes I would need, or is a ready made set going to be fine?

Any suggestions would be welcome :)

Cheers

I have a box in the van which is full of things that have got me out of trouble in the past, on the screw front there are a few extra long screws in different sizes, and a few short ones that are of a thicker gauge. Wall plugs as well, managed to get some big ones for when browns just dont fill the gap. I personally cannot abide a dodgy fixing. Its surprising how often I have to dip into it !- most common is getting 2x2.5 into an existing back box, metal , and pulling the box loose. -

3.5mm socket extension screws are handy, get the 75mm ones, then cut them down to suit, and remember to keep the ones you don't use that came with the socket, always handy at later dates. 3.5mm extension posts have their uses too.
4mm brass screws are useful, short and long ones. 6mm nuts and bolts, brass bolts etc etc.
Wood screw wise, I have a stock ranging from 3quarter 8's right through to 4" 12's. Inch and a half 8's are the most common I use, with red plugs.
