I completed a job several weeks ago now and have returned to the property to do some additional work. However when I looked on top of the offices that we installed in the telecomms engineers have installed their cables in very close proximity to mine in some cases bridged over and touching. Looking in regs they should be at least 50mm seperated. What would you recommend pull customer on this or speak to telecomms engineers?

We had exactly the same issue at my work, data guys had run cat 5 all over the place, even when in trunking, they had cable tied it to power cables.

We called them back and quoted regs regarding seperation of circuits and insisted they routed their cables correctly.

We had this before come back after leaving site for a few days and all alarm and data was crammed in our galv trunking. Site agent made them put in there own containment that they had priced for.

Happened to me a few times, you can see them hanging around waiting for you to finish your shiny new install of cable tray then they just run there cables down it "Dont mind do you?". Hold on a minute, I didnt put all this effort in just for you to then quickly pull your cables in along it :hammer:

They get upset when they come back and find you've put the cable shears through the lot.
Done it, and my foreman gave me the tee shirt. It was part of a long running battle with the instrument gang.

I would firstly tell your customer so he knows who is at fault, this not only breaks our regs but also puts his network in a vulnerable situation, i have a lot of experience with data cabling and have recently rewired 2 jobs (by supposed data experts!) which have had the same issue and it has caused the network to shut down at times.

Had a similar problem alarm guys came in ran most of there cables in existing containment onsite along side power cables. We pulled them up on it, they came back and ran there cables inside flexible conduit which they just tucked back into the trunking!
