Replacing a fan and some lights today at a job I'll be doing more work on, which has an "Emma" branded consumer unit.

Googling suggests that it's a rebranded Contactum board, and the housing looks identical to this image which supports that.

However, I also know that Contactum changed their design a while back and that the old ones are not compatible.

The Contactus MCBs in this board are 60898 but not with the current branding or coloured switches, so does anyone know how to tell which is old/new? Is there a definitive list somewhere of the old/new model numbers? I can't find one on googling, but seems like something the manufacturer should be making available.

Just to add a spanner to the works, ther are also several "Europa" MCBs in there, which seem to mostly fit OK, but as far as I can tell are not part of the same group at all?

I've told the client to factor in a board change sooner rather than later, but if I can I'd like to put in a RCBO for now to add a socket.

Pic - It's the 16A Europa that I am looking to change, since it currently runs Under Floor Heating so it would be an upgrade for that too.

On the subject of matching MCBs, I've been meaning for a while to try to build a list of "rebranded" MCBs that should fit securely for my own reference, so feel free to offer any you know and if I come up with a decent list I'll collate a post for the benefit of the forum...

The new Contactum don't fit unless you 'pack' the busbar with a prong for a spare busbar or something. Very annoying and I really don't like doing it.

A LOT of those boards round here since we are very close to TLC HQ and they've always pushed Contactum.

Thanks - that is what I feared. Are these the ones that used to sell a little 'retrofit' kit that was essentially a bit of bent metal to fill that gap, then withdrew it from the market? I vaguely recall running into that one a while back, but didn't remember which brand it was.

Looks like RCD FCU temporarily then and board replacement in the future....
