Hi guys, I have my compex course booked next week, I have heard that it is very intense, can anyone give me some guidance with regards to the practical and theory exams.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Chris

You have no put what course it is if you post many on here will be able to tell you also doing past exam papers help as long as you understand it a lot of questions are repeated

It is intense and difficult if you are not doing that sort of work day in day out.

100% failure rate when I did mine for the second time last year. I passed first time last time...go figure.

When I did mine in Middlesbrough the knowledge of the lads on the course varied massively, there was a lad who had come from uni and hadn't ever terminated a gland, so failed the practical straight away.
Don't be put off by people saying how intense it is, it's as intense as you make it. Just use the course revision notes again and again. It's not a willy waving competition so I won't say I passed first time....... Once you have it make sure you keep on top of it because the renewal / refresher is straight forward in comparison, but most of all good look and smash it.

I am also looking to do this somewhere in Teesside after April this year. I only have experience in a commercial environment so I am slightly apprehensive. I can make off standard SWA glands and academically I am quite bright / good learner but I fear lack of experience with this sector will be a major factor.

Where did you do it mate, TTE? If so would you recommend them? I completed my apprenticeship there so I am leaning towards returning and doing it with them but I have read it's not the greatest place to do compex. If it wasn't TTE, would you recommend anywhere else?

cheers.

Hello mate, I can't remember the name of the place where we're sat the course, I just remember it was next to a massive ship yard and there was some rigs in it. I didn't have an in depth knowledge when we attended the course, it helped that we quizzed each other when driving up to boro from Yorkshire and back each day. The way I look at it is if I can pass it, you can. The practical is straight forward, it's mainly selecting the correct equipment for the correct environment I found.

Hi Guys,

Im attending this course next week and looking to get a quick overview of the contents and brush up on areas that I may need to.
Not sure if anyone has a copy of the CompEX course notes as a PDF, I found another thread which was started a few years back and some of the guys were in possession of the notes, if anyone has a copy it would much appreciated if you could send them over or point me to where I can find them...

Many Thanks
Neil
