When they do gland inspection they look for -
-Correct type of gland according to spec. (e.g. E1EX or E1W)
-correct size of gland in relation to cable
-fitment of IP washer if applicable
-All armoured strands are terminated properly, and the olive is clamping properly.
-Outer sheath has not been stripped back too far.
-All parts of gland have been tightened correctly.
-No damage to gland from sparkys using pump pliers etc.
-Serrated washer or Banjo fitted (depending on spec)
-Sheath correctly fitted (If fitted, depends on job spec)

Not sure, I have never been offshore but I think all cables are flexible.
