thinking of doin' the compex course is it worth my while doin'parts 1 to 4 as i'm not an instrumentation spark or do 'they' usually expect the full foundation course?:confused:

Hi Ziggy i have just passed my compex i done all 4 parts . I would say the Ex i ( intrisically safe circuits ) part is definetly worth doing if you are looking to get into the oil industry

hi does anyone know if a specific Compex EX course ( i think tere's 01 - 09 is this correct?) is needed for power stations , or does each power station differ in it's requirements ? i may have a start on a power station but need to do some ground work first

is the Compex qualification recognised as a site safety passport on a power station , i've been working abroad for about 4 years so i'm a bit out of the loop , any help - much appreciated

I've worked on a nuclear power station in the past and never did Compex for that. Instead I had to do a ccnsg safety passport and then go through vetting/security clearence. May depend on where your going. This was a magnox site

it's the pembroke power station, i'm not sure at the moment what type of fuel it uses
, mymate was on the isle of grain job as a fitter and he can transfer straight over with the same safety passport , i presume site safety passports are the same across all the trades ,

are some compex courses are geared towards the safe / correct installation of equipment ? which from the sounds of it is more a skills qualification than a certificate demonstrating safe working practices

thanks for your help ,it's a bit difficult getting info until i get back home

pembroke is a gas CHP. there will be some compex work but not that much. im on the grain CHP now. we only have 2 compex blokes, and when i waas on herefor another firm, they only used about 2 or 3 compex blokes too. toget on blue book jobs, CCNSG safety passport and JIB card seem to be a must
