Condesation in the van

Does anyone else have issues with condesation in the back of the van on colder days. Lately, have foubd that because i've been having the heat on full heat, when the van is left over night the back of its full of consensation.

Just wondering if there are any solutions to reduce or totally stop it?

I suffer with it as well. Cant do anything about it except move to warmer climate.

It's not fundamentally because you have had the heater on full although this will make it worse, if you see the difference.

It is because there is moisture in the van. Rain or snow entering when doors are opened, wet boots and coats, which will evaporate and migrate to the coldest parts of the van. Even a small leak will mean it will never go away. Check under rubber mats for wetness.

The only cure is to remove the moisture, i.e. wipe away in the morning and let dry out completely when weather is a bit warmer.
Bear in mind the condensation will be inside the doors as well. It's very difficult but that's how the world works.
Not much help I know.

Could put a solar panel on the roof with it'sown battery, a 12v Extractor fan with a metal outlet grill riveted onto roof/side panel. That way you get to run your fan without flattening ur main battery and if sum bugger thinks they'll rip your vent out to knick your van they'll have to drill the rivets out and you'll hear them.

Main place I found the condensation lately was in the overhead storage shelf, due to use in minus temperatures. Ice formed on metal inside overhead when left overnight and next day, during use, ice melts! documents soaked!

I had trouble with ice on the inside roof until friday and some bugger stole my van, so no need to worry now about damp.

Yeah ice on the inside of roof in the back was what made me notice it. No leaks on the van so must just be down toall the snow of boots that in the footwell.

Might have to stud out the back and insulate LOL

I don't want to brag (just a bit) but I used to have that problem, but have now got a brand new van and no probs!

Till next winter when its been heated and cooled and had the doors open to let cold damp air in. Might put a 12volt fan in with humidistat control

i get ice on the inside of the windscreen due to condensation freezing. cant do much as it is due to hot air holding more moisture than cold air. would reduce the condensation if you opened the windows and filled the whole van with cold dry air before getting home. alt is to run the aircon as well as the heater that will dry the air in the van a bit more.

try venting the internal warm moisture laden air out by opening the windows, just before you pull up and lock up.

the guy i bought my van from used to go weekend camping in it. it's ply lined and carpeted over the ply, sides, roof and doors. not a drop of condensation anywhere.and , tools out, mattress in. nice little camper

If it's any help, if van has glass on back use some ANTI-FOG by RAIN-X, great stuff on all windows, have to apply just right though. Also you can get some water absorbing tubs (looks a bit like butter container but has salt/gel type material in and holes in top) put a couple of these in the back and just empty the water out of them in morning and use again in the night - I think you can now get them in Wilkos or look on net.

I use these for the drawers I have in the garage that I store MCBs and other sensitive things in, they seem to work pretty well.

Whenever I get a wet Dash or Windscreen, I leave the driver and passenger side windows open just a tiny bit overnight, About 5mm just incase it rains!! This works every time because it equalizes the cold air and prevents condensation!!!
