hi guys, im new to the site and could do with a little help.....

ive been a qualified electrician since i was 18 (7 years ago) i have got my 17th edition and want to go self employed. I have been out of the trade for a coupl of years now after getting fed up of been layed off over and over.

so basically i want to become nic or elecsa registered which i know i just pay the money, they come out check your work and check you have all the relevent equipment and know how to use it ect...

but i dont understand as a new business how do you sign work off to say its safe in the first place for the nic or elecsa to come and check it after?

hope ive made sense and thanks in anticipation of a reply

ben

Perfect Sense....

The job they look at for your assessment does not need signing off (Notifying to LABC), they are usually prepared to waiver that one, Napit did for me and I know NICEIC have done for a mate of mine

With Napit it has to be notified within 21 days of completion, I remember I finished the job and Napit came out after 10 Days or something, I passed the assessment and then notifed it the next day, all within 21 days..job done

I can only tell you how it happened for me Ben

yes i totally understand that, im just worried that i could get into serious trouble over it all, maybe i should just call napit and ask them. were you checked on one or two jobs? thanks

I registered my first job through ELECSA after my first assessment. I talked to my local authority building inspector before hand and he was happy with that.

But my advise would be not to talk to the building inspector first, I wished I hadn't for a bit until I explained to him that ELECSA were happy to register my first job.
