I am looking to get back into the trade after many years away as described in my post here - http://www.electriciansforums.net/electrical-courses-electrical-nvqs/24387-retraining.html
Want to be legal and up to date but it does seem a bit of a minefield now. Although I have been away for some time I did complete an apprenticeship and haven't gone completely daft just yet, could still rewire a house if asked to.
What am I allowed to do right now without worry? From what I understand I could rewire an existing circuit like for like, I could fault find and repair but can't install any new wiring or circuits until part P qualified. So if a neighbour ask me take a look a lighting circuit with an open neutral and paid me to do so, that would be OK but to install an additional socket or security light would not. Have I got that right?
Also apart from 17th edition regs. what else is essential to enable me to complete any type of domestic work.
