OK here's the deal. Brown has to get the Blairite/Primrose Hill gang on side if he has any chance of keeping his snout in the trough. There is also an urgent requirement, along with intense behind the scenes pressure from Europe, to get the EU Consitution (sorry Lisbon Treaty) ratified and the de facto unification of Europe back on track before the whole sorry mess collapses totally which given the trillions it has cost them/us so far, CANNOT be allowed to lapse now that they are so close.
