Hi Guys

I am in need of some help. i have just installed a new bathroom extractor. Since the installation, the following happens:

  • isolator in off position turns the light on and off as usual - extractor fan not working as expected
  • isolator turned on, causes the bathroom light to turn on and stay on - and can not be turned off from the light switch. extractor fan can be used as expected

My old extractor had 3 terminals and the new one only has a live and neutral, how can i sort it out?

Many thanks, hope the issue was written clearly

Hi Chris.

You've written the issue very clearly and from that it is blatantly obvious that you're not an electrician and haven't a clue what you're playing with!

With that in mind you "sort it out" by employing a qualified electrician to do it for you before you hurt yourself and/or somebody else.

Sorry for being blunt, but it is the best option.

Sorry you feel like that, but many here feel that to encourage DIYers on a public forum is wrong from a point of view of responsibility and liability. You more than likely do not have the correct equipment or knowledge to safeguard yourself, and to encourage the incompetent in endeavours that may be life threatening is the practice of fools.
