Afternoon all

I have a DOL starter with 415 coil. Basically I've been asked to put a selector switch in so that a proximity sensor can control the DOL starter.

Could anyone provide me with a wiring diagram on how to do this?

Many Thanks

Are you saying that you are going to alter the DOL starter to add a switch, which will select between the Start Button or a Prox Switch?
Changing the set-up of DOL starters will have safety implications. Have you done a Risk Assessment on the new design?

Risk assessment.... No. A select switch between the Start Button or a Prox Switch .... Yes

I'm assuming the sensor will control a relay, I'm just not sure how to connect the rest of the relay up! The sensor is already switching 110V which will control the coil of an 110V relay.

What is this relay currently doing?

This is a pretty simple set up, providing there are no safety implications.

I think our OP has just burnt his boats.
No help will be coming from me either.

As RoB said, a new apprentice would be given a job like this.

Assuming the Dol starter is controlling a motor what exactly is the motor doing out of interest?

Having a go at the top blokes who can help you out here will not get you far, if you think risk assessment is just pointless red tape then you are in for a shock, as we have not been told what this is controlling we cannot tell you the correct way to connect it, its the risk assessment that denotes the way you are allowed to wire it, we would be irresponsible to advice without asking these questions, so in response if you don't give us the info then don't expect an answer.

For some reason I don't think the OP will be coming back to answer these...

Checking the OP's history he uses this site a plenty and gets stuck often, IMHO this guy is taking on work he is not competent in and trying to wing it by using the forum, he's playing with motors here and it wasn't long ago that he didn't know how star/delta worked and wandered what connecting the motor up wrong would do...so Ill leave that thought with you. We all have a learning curve so don't get me wrong as I'm not having a direct attack but the learning curve is usually when you are supervised and you ask these questions to them but seems like the forum is becoming his supervisor and yet he shows us this crap attitude.

Unless he drops back back to house bashing Im sure we will see him again.

Looks like the fella is taking on the work anyway!

Hopefully it's only for something like an enclosed in line fan motor as opposed to, say, a lathe!

Dear oh dear!

Thank you, both. Seems like common sense may have prevailed, and the fellow is indeed going for one of the modern mirrors you mentioned...
