Hi
Can you please give me some advice. I asked an electrician to fit a ring.com video doorbell 3 to a Byron 761 wiring and chime so the the ring doorbell wouldn't need to be manually changed. He had several goes, but couldn't get the ring.com bell to make the Byron chime ring. He ended up replacing the Byron 761 chime completely. He ran the wiring off a nearby socket via a transformer to the ring doorbell. The doorbell keeps its charge, but I would have liked to have kept the original chime. Was this the only solution?

To the best of my knowledge, the Ring doorbells don't allow you to ring an existing chime, that being said it's been a while since I installed one, but everyone I have installed has come with plugin wirless receivers that provide the chime.

I have since installed one that does by Netatmo. Not sure about Nest.

Thanks for responding SparkyChick. The ring advice says that you can wire the door bell to your existing chime as long as the transformer supplies 8-24 VAC at 50/60 Hz. Do you think that the Byron chime would have been compatible on that basis?
