connecting an emergency inverter unit with a switch start ballast

Hi all, was wondering if anyone could shed any light on connecting an emergency inverter unit to a switch start ballast/starter arrangement. Its on a 1x18w pl light fitting. I understand all the connections bar the four at the bottom saying "to mains control gear". Would anyone have any wiring diagrams? Thanks...
