Hi everyone,

How would I go about connecting 4 or 5 Compact Fluor lights together so I would only have one plug to plug in?

Is there some sort of box I could use to connect them all?

Thanks

Judging by your post you aren't exactly qualified to do this sort of work, may I suggest you get an Electrician in to do this work, and yes there is a sort of box to connect to.

Hey...thanks for your reply. I think I will be getting an electrician in after all but what would you call that type of box you're referring to?

I want to be able to buy the supplies myself. I really need to keep costs down.

Depends really, if you want it surface mounted, and switched, then you need a switched / non switched 13 amp fused spur unit coupled with a surface box, if you want it recessed the substitute the surface box for a single metal socket box, or if it's mounted on a plasterboard wall a plasterboard mounting box will do, a bit of a ramble, but there are so many variables, best if you get a sparky in show him what you want and get him to supply it, you wont be saving anything by buying it yourself, on the contrary you could get the wrong stuff and have to return it.

beats me how you can keep costs down by buying kit yourself. you go to b&q and pay twice what an electrician will charge you. add the cost of fuel etc., getting there and back and you're on a loser. especially when i tell you that a client of mine did exactly the same as you propose. they sold her the wrong type of switches and she had to go 15 miles each way to get them changed.
