Hi i removed the old manrose fan as it was to loud and useless . I connected the new one but its not working. The old manrose was connected through light switch.

fit a link across terminals 1 & 3. you won't have the overrun though. for that you need an electrician to rewire with 3 core cable.
 
What are you going to do with it? It looks like the route had been cut out of the tiles in the room. What room is it?
Any chance of a photo of the cable and fan and the route of the cable.
 
I understand that you got it working, by following Tels advice in post #2.
There is more to it though. I presume you are not going to keep the wiring on show like in your last pic. What are you going to do?
The route of the cable may not be in a 'safe zone', I cant tell by the pic but it does seem odd. That's why I'm asking for a pic of the cable and fan and the route of the cable.
