wondering why the hob and cooker each have 2 x 2.5mm cables in the breakers. and that MK CU would have complied to 16th ( pre 2008 ), but not to current regs. time to consult a local electrcian, especially as you probably have no test equipment.

Probably what you don't want to hear but I wouldn't use it. I'd get one that was up to current regs.

What test kit do you have?

Exactly what I thought when I saw the 2 rings on cooker and hob ? Only thing I can think is there is a socket with each too
will find out tonight ?
If it is. Is this legal ?

Would a dual split rcd board meet current regs

Hi mate. Just a few questions.
Are you planning to do this change yourself?
What test equipment do you have?
Are you an electrician?

Personally I wouldn't do a change like this myself, as I don't have any test equipment and I would want a cert afterwards...

No not myself but I want to understand the process and what I require

This is where I get sceptical.
You could be asking an electrician to do this, and if he is good then he would be more than happy to explain what is needed and why.... (I like to know how things work so I can understand why you ask) or.... you could be asking so that you can 'save a few quit' and do the work yourself. Therefore without being tested may lead to someone getting hurt of property getting fire damage.

What I can say is that you need a board that meets 17th regs.

On a lighter note and you may want to consider this. If you have children and you will be getting the up stairs circuit modified to be on its own ring, you may want to consider having the sockets in the rooms upstairs wired individually. Each room has a radial circuit, then when the kids don't turn the music down you can just flick the breaker to that room.

like it. but not quite as good as flushing the downstairs bog when one of them's in the shower, so the shower goes colld on them.

haha... What next.. wiring a cattle prod to the shower plug via a switch...

What test kit do you have?

I'll try this question again!!!

And no I wouldn't put the board you have been "given" in either, unless you are planning on buying upgrades for it.

Time to call a sparky maybe?
