FLASHBANGBOOM

hi just wondering if anyone could answer a quick question for me.is the order the breakers in the consumer unit are fitted matter as just had full rewire { pro company employed } and when they came to fit my cooker the other day {diferant electrician } found new c/u circits wrongly marked as when he turned off the one marked cooker cooker remained live and several sockets where isolated,he was also puzzeled as to the rather randem order breakers where arranged ,said i should give him a call to have him rectify his error .. even though he did fill the paper work as all ok

the order as such does not really matter, but most of us tend to fit the higher rated breakers nearest to the RCD so that the heavy loads dont have to travel the length of the busbar, but incorrect circuit ID is a different matter.

I was trained to put the highest rated breaker nearest the switch but it matters not since the bus bar is rated at xx amps all the way along it.
There's no excuse for a wrongly labelled CU imho.

Yes and i never take anyone elses word for it n all.....if i isolate a circuit that says what it is....upstairs ring for instance...them steinels go up them stairs with me....had a few wrongly id`d circuits in the past and they can bite you.....

incorrect marking of breakers is a simple mistake, but he should have checked it before completing the cert. another 10 minutes wouldn't mean missing last orders.LOL.
