Can you guys please confirm with me what forms need to be filled out with a consumer unit change.

Eic, Schedule of inspections & Schedule of test results.
Do you need to fill out a periodic inspection report aswell for the existing installation????

It threw me a bit cos in the book-practical guide to inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations by christopher kitcher says "in the case of a consumers unit change only, an eic cert would be required for the consumer unit and a periodic insp report should be completed for the existing installation"

Not needed unless the customer wants to pay for the periodic and requests one ! all you doing is certifying your own work ! in this case its consumer unit only. Everything else will come under a pre work survey such as bonding, meter tails etc and everything else will be as EIC.

thanks, its one of those things where you know the answer but when someone else tells you different (this time in a bloody book) you sometimes question yourself.

Hi everyone
kung , what do you mean when you say that everything would come under per work survey.
So what test are to be done on the cu, the pfc tests, ze test?

My personal view is you would have to issue a completion certificate, basically you are changing the DB, more than likely upgrading tails and the main earth as well, when you connect the existing circuits into the new board you will need to test them to ensure they are safe to energise, you fill out a completion certiicate and where it asks what the certificate covers you are saying this certificate is for a replacement distribution board, all circuits are as existing, test all circuits and add the results into the schedule of results as normal if you had of installed them, thats what I do on a replacement DB.
