Consumer Unit - Comedy of Errors

Here's a few photos of a board I found on a job the other day. Only had my phone on me so apologies about the photo quality. This was installed and tested by a NICEIC registered electrician. Just thought I'd post these for your amusement (and I want to play with the pictures feature on the forums, haven't tried it yet!)

Spot the errors!

1) Obviously this guy doesn't know the reasoning behind using two RCDs.
2) Obviously doesn't know or understand how an RCBO works (what this picture doesn't show is that the earth fly lead was not connected)
3) Missed a very serious error on the main switch. While this is a very bad misprint by the manufacturerm guess which way around the tails were connected. Surely this should have been picked up on a test.

Hope you enjoy!

Looks like a 16th edition split load board with 100m/amp s type and 30 m/amp rcd protected
The bathroom light on the 30 m/amp and some other circuit req 30 amp going on an rcbo, maybe because there is no spare way on the protected side
I can obviously see the marking on the 100 m/amp rcd and the butchery on the consumer frame, but what else are we looking at
The board looks as if it originally must have had a main isolator and the S type used to replace that isolator

don't think it's manuf. missprint. the rcd clearly is meant to have it's associated MCBs to it's right side. agreewith what des says about RCD being put in the place of main isolator.

Looks like a 16th Ed board for a TT system seeing as it's got a 100mA RCD. Not too much wrong with it and tbh a lot of RCDs aren't polarity dependent so I'm fairly sure it would still operate. Also RCBOs don't necessarily need a flying earth although that isn't an excuse for not connecting one when present.

Every cheapo CU i've seen with the RCD sat at the side always has the terminals marked up the wrong way. Why they don't position them in the middle of the DIN rail before the 2nd bank of MCBs or don't bother labeling them up at all.

isnt that a wicks or B&Q own? very very shoddy. thing i dont get is IF this bloke is NIC then why dont they just do it right. i mean they obviously done it right to become a member why stop...its not like its loads of extra time looking at that to do it right.....boggles the mind
