does anyone know where i could download a diagram showing the minimum ip ratings on a consumer unit i.e. front/ side top and bottom with regard to ip2x/ip4x/ipxxb , thanks

This applies to all accessible electrical enclosures, not just CUs. So, for example, if I have a surface light switch, I'll generally try to run the cable into the bottom or sides rather than the top. (IP4X is a surprisingly small hole, 1mm.)

I've looked everywhere for a diagram, we have been audited on some ecr's and the --- has put a c2 on the entry hole for the 16mm earth with about a 4mm gap , I want to stick the diagram down his throat, we are being audited by ******s.

U don't know the half of it mate , pull chords 2.4 m high in a bathroom.....c2(in the zone 1 apparently . Small chip on low level cooker out switch on side , filled with cork ......c2. *removed*

I agree the bloke does sound like a tool but teletrix i thought holes in the top bigger than ball point pen (ip4x) was a C2 as the ip rating is compromised and dust etc could fall in and cause a short (v likely i know!!) - i always stick it down as a C2. Maybe i'm getting it wrong...

bit of a judgement call. if CU is situated in such a way that it's easy to poke something in, then a C2. if it's close to, say , a ceiling, then a C3, IMO.

However it's done, you need to have a guarantee of no sharp/unprotected edges that can damage the insulation. Personally, I'm not that impressed...

Personally, I would take a Ze measurement myself rather than rely on someone else's maybe drive by scrap of paper.
