An electrician has fitted a new Consumer unit to replace my (very) old unit. He has mounted it on a 5/8" ply backboard and then screwed that to the plaster wall. Is that OK?

DNo and energy supplyers will fit their service heads/meters on fire resistant chipboard though.....which they generally screw onto the existing board....which often has `pits` standing it away from the wall (not always though)...When we fit wood to the wall its only to cover up holes etc normally as its not needed for anything else so there is nothing wrong with doing that
