Consumer Unit tails

P

P&Q

Hi everyone,
A customer has asked me to replace a CU for them in a 2 bedroom house, the tails going into the meter are 25mm and the ones coming from the digital meter to the old CU are 16mm, so we have got in touch with southern electric and they said that they will charge a fee and in 4 weeks time they'll send round an engineer who will disconnect their power between 8 to 10 am, and will resume it back at 4-5pm and he needs the job to be finished and certified. Now, the customer has asked me if it would be possible to not replace the tails, and I'm not sure if it is possible to replace a CU without upgrading the tails from 16mm to 25mm?
Btw the 100A cut out fuse is not sealed, and I am able to disconnect the power to replace the CU.
Thanks in advanced guys, I'd appreciate your help!

change em full stop. (but i didn't say that). seals fom ebay .

tell me about it....!! had no end of trouble with NEEB getting a house restored to the grid after it was disconnected at request of police back in october!! :)

If it's a 100a fuse then you really need 25mm tails if you're certifying it.
It sounds like you're able to put these in easy enough too ;)

Thanks everyone for all your answers.
I'd be more than happy to replace them myself, i know that of course none of you are suggesting i replace the seal ;-) - this is gonna sound like a silly question, but if i was to do that, and then when they came to read the meter next from the DNO would that be ok? just asking for general info! again I know that there may not be a clear black & white answer to this, but if anyone has an answer i'd appreciate.

people who read meters dont care !! last time i checked in NEDL area Group 4 were reading them!!! DNO dont read any more!! all been passed over to the supply companys who sub it out for the lowest fee!! :)

only time you might get problem is if there are signs of tampering for free leccy. that's why you should seal it. and as ^^^ durham says. it's not DNO reading the meters, it's whoever the supplier gets cheapest.
