has anyone got a good clear diagram of how to wire communal lights through a contactor with a timeclock/photocell

Line and neutral of the supply to the contactor power input terminals, Line and neutral of the lights to the output power connections ( L1 L2 L3 or similar ), A1 ( the contactor coil ) to the switched output of the timer etc and A2 to neutral, if this is helpful for you?

You only need to switch the lines and the contactor is rated per pole so for example a 16A four pole contactor would be fine.
