Afternoon all,

I need to switch a reasonably high load (higher than 13 amps) on an several electric underfloor heating circuits. I'm assuming I can use a contactor for this.

Having never wired one before, I thought I'd just double check the connections:

A1/A2 - Wire the normal feed to the underfloor matting from the stat to these contacts on the contactor?
1/2 - Wire live through these?
3/4 - Wire neutral through these?

Many thanks

Euan

A1 and A2 are the connections to the coil of the contactor so assuming its a 230v coil then you put a neutral to A2 and switch return from stat to A1. The rest of what you said is fine. Make sure stat and coil are fused correctly.

prob 1 pole per circuit

AC1 rating will prob do -doubt there's any significant 'inrush'

if it's just switching via contactor i'd normally be switching line/phases only through contacts(assuming separate local isolation)

you can measure the 'cold resistance' of the elements and compare it to the rated wattage of the elements if you're interested in that sort of thing:D

You only need to switch the lines and the contactor is rated per pole so for example a 16A four pole contactor would be fine.
