Just wondering, when would you prefer to use ladder rack instead of cable tray,in the thinking of size of swa's my opinion is anything from 50 mm cabling any thoughts on this Sunday afternoon cheers

Depends on the level of support needed for the cabling, ladder rack is generally for vertical runs as there is less support required and tray for horizontal runs, but if the ladder provides enough support and can be fixed in place suitably then OK for horizontal.

Ladder rack can be used for large sub mains, in areas where large amounts of dust could accumulate, also in areas where temperatures may reach high levels. The ladder rack helps to dissipate heat.

There is a difference between standard cable ladder for vertical runs and that used for horizontal runs. There are more bars per metre run than on standard cable ladders, to spread the cable load weight and eliminate cable sagging.
