hello just wanted to know what difference you guys get on a ring when you connect phase of 1 side to earth of other and vice versa i tested 1 today and got about 3ohm difference i put this down to all the sockets building resistance on each joint.
what would u have i would say i would be happy with 0.5 difference.
but only 7 sockets and i took sockets off and tested from back do you get this ?

it is a ring? or not ?

Sorry mate struggling to understand, are you doing an r1+r2 test if so correct procedure is put phase of 1 cable with earth of other cable in connector and vice versa with other cable. So you have both earths and lives crossed over and in connectors.
Then test at every socket between phase and earth, you should get the same reading from every point except spurs which will be higher.

Is this what you mean?

i know what i mean lol
yes phase of 1 cable with earth of other cable in connector and vice versa with other cable. i was getting from 12.5 up to 17 ohms the further away from connections and there was 7 sockets over 4 meter.
it is old installation and is this what i would expect? i would only expect the same readings if you R making a ring

something wrong. readings way too high. you should be getting readings under 1 ohm

you need to measure the r1 , r2, rn, i.e. end to end of each conductor first. think you'll find one of them is high. if it's 2.5/1.5mm then the cpc resistance should be 1.67 x the phase resistance. once you've found which reading is excessive, look for the fault .

no i get good reading for phase conductors and earth phase and neutral the same and earth is a bit more and all sockets have been checked so would there be a bad jb somwhere
