Hi I have just recently completed & passed a bronze domestic installer course & am trying to complete a Periodic test at my home. I had my house rewired about 10 years ago so thought it might be a good place to start. I having a problem with the end to end continuity test of a ring final circuit in the lounge. When I try take the end to end readings of the RFC all I am getting is the 19.99 error reading form my Kewtech KT63 multifunction tester. I have checked all the wiring in the sockets which looks fine & replaced the socket fronts but am still getting this error. I have completed the continuity tests on the kitchen & upstairs RFC's which are fine I am just struggling with the lounge. I am also having the same error reading problem with the two sockets in the cellar which are on a radial circuit. If anyone could offer some advise it would be most appreciated? Many thanks

I know nothing about your tester so 19.99 error means diddly squat to me
If you are asking about the installation I will advise,if you are asking about Kewteck machine codes its time I moved on :)

most likely will either be a issue with zeroing your leads, I find kewtechs can store values seemingly at random! or your procedure somewhere...
I have before now seen two radials coming from one breaker, so dont assume its a ring because there are 2 of each wire at each point in the Cu.
If you have problems with the tester though then you can give Alan Towler at Kewtech a ring on 07970826188 or email via the kewtech website. He has given me a few tricks to optimise my kt64dl when dealing with low loop readings.
The bloke is decent and will talk through any issues you have and will if at the job go through step by step to identify any issues either in your method or the way the tester is being used.

If you are doing end to end and getting 19.99 ohms then there is no continuity and that means you do not have a ring circuit. What is the circuit you are testing fused at? 32a? For instance you may have a ring but reversed polarity somewhere. As far as the radials in the cellar you will not get continuity unless you go end to end with a wander lead from the consumer unit to the socket. How about some pics of the consumer unit and your connections to the ring?

Hi thank you for your help. I have posted a pic of the consumer unit.
The left hand side are all the sockets & the right hand side lighting, oven & smoke detector.

The circuit is protected by a 20a mcb it is the 2nd one from the left.
I do have a wander lead that I bought with the kewtech multi-tester but I have never used one before could you possibly go through the testing procedure of the radial sockets in the cellar (there are 2 on the circuit) as the course was very brief & some much information was crammed into 4 weeks. Many thanks for your help

Hi
Obviously not installed by a spark.
Hi I thought the installation was dodgy from the beginning as the guy had a couple of younger guys then he just signed it off. When I opened the CU I thought the same. Could I go back to the spark & complain as he is still around & he did sign the certificate after all? Thanks
