Hi all,
I was recently asked about a cooker circuit and I told the guy I was only first year so had no idea about the circuit but wanted to ask the question to see what the answer would be!
Basically, he wanted to know if he could run 6mm cable to a dual connection plate, then run 4/6mm cable (depending on oven/hob spec) to a cooker isolator for each of the appliances? I think the reason he wanted to run a cable from the CU to a dual connection plate then cooker isolator was something about the isolator having to be within 2m of the appliance and they are at opposite ends of a large kitchen, so cannot share the same one?
I know that both oven and hob can be on the same circuit, but there is the debate that fixed appliance over 2kw should have its own circuit etc.
What is the correct method for this kind of circuit?
Sorry if I'm being a pain, but I've read my C&G L2 book, but cant find anything other that a bit on diversity.
Also, does anyone know if you learn these things in year two or are you expected to gain this information from being on site? As my first year I spent most of my time doing ring and radials, lighting and some R1+R2 testing!
Thanks for any info!
