cooker grill element has stopped working, now how would you guys go about this in the safest manner.

would it be check the voltage is still going to element, then isolate then check resistance of element?? i=p/u
 
obviously, you need to pull the connectors off the element to measure it's resistance ( parallel paths an' all ). then , if it reads OK, test for volts at the element.
