Just wondering more than anything really, im not really involved in house works a lot.
But why is it acceptable to use twin and Earth from the connection point to the cooker?

if I was doing it I would be more inclined to use a flex with a coating resistive to grease and oils etc in case of spill ages.

Hmmm, it may be acceptable in the UK, I'm not sure TBH but it wouldn't be permitted by my local regs. Flat twin is an installation cable, not a trailing cable, I'd say it was bad practice at best.

It is permitted for any fixed appliance which does not move in its normal operation and wouldn't be expected to be moved other than on rare occasions.
Cookers, ovens etc all stay where they are installed, and are normally fixed in place. So movement of the cable is not required.

I think the manufacturers instructions tend to state HO7RNF flex for the connecting cable but 90% are wired in twin and earth.
Mainly because wholesalers do not readily stock 6mm² HO07RNF, which tells you something about the likelihood of using it since the wholesalers have no call for it!
