Does anybody know if it's possible to change the 'innards' of a cooker hood? I'm wondering of it's possible to replace the filter fan 'module' with a fan that can be ducted to the outside. I would like to think you don't have to buy a whole new hood ......... maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks Chaps and Chapesses.:chef:

Haven't seen the hood yet!
Haven't done it before!
Liking what I'm hearing!

I suppose then I get the make and model and find someone who does the convertor plate/fitting then. Oh and cut the hole behind the chimney and fit the ducting. Anything to watch out for?

Thankyou again.
Most of these use strange sized outlets so don't be supprised in having to use gaffer tape to join ducting, really
easy when you see one.

If there's an old conventionally flued boiler in the room or somewhere nearby, think twice. I've turned down just such a request as I decided that I wasn't competent to assess how much extra venting was required to avoid the extractor pulling fumes down the flue.

Worthy point to make but tends to be the old floor mounted boilers but still a few about so worth checking.
normally the givaway would be the airvent in the floor or wall in the same room.

True, as needasparks says, mostly floor mounted, but the case I'm thinking about was a conventionally flued wall hung boiler in a kitchen cupboard. (Thorn Apollo from 1980s I think. They did both balanced flue and conventionally flued versions.)
