I was at was house this morning were the client sayed over tripped when she put fan oven up to 200C , I then tryed this several times and not once did it trip. I finshed all the rest of the work i needed to do and just got home. She has know phoned me saying it has tripped again!!

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Its the RCD that trips in the board. I was thinking element but it wouldnt have worked a few times before if it was would it?

Any help appreciated.

Well it could be the element expanding and contracting and occasionally tripping the RCD.

It could be accumulation of high protective currents on this and other appliances, where they all reach a point to trip the RCD.

It could just be a faulty RCD.

So I would IR the oven/cooker
Ramp test the RCD
See if you do have an accumulation of protective currents.

It could be that the element is on it's way out, that moisture is entering the element and whe the element is switched on, the current boils away the moisture, but also trips the RCD. When the RCD is re-set, the moisture is gone.
These faults can usually be seen as a bright spot on the element.
