Can anyone help

Was asked to look at a job after a kitchen fitter had done all the electrical work.

When looking under the kickboards I found he had left the cooker outlet plate on the floor not fixed nor the cables supported. He wired the oven straight into the outlet plate using 2.5mm heat resistant flex. The oven is rated at 11amp, Is there any reg saying it has to be connected into a fused spur or is this just good practise as this is what i would of done.

thanks;)

first, is there a cooker isolator? if so this will feed the oulet. what is the circuit MCB rating? is it fed off the ring final or a radial. need more info to answr

Is the cooker outlet connection sealed? Connections of any type should be concealed in an enclosure, and cables unsupported is also a big no no, especially twin and earth, this would usually warrant a deviation on a PIR resulting in an overall unsatisfactory. If there are open connections and cables unsupported. (hanging down the surface of a wall for example)

If this is under kitchen units then maybe some people will have a different take on it as the risk are smaller as it not being easily accessible. Out of reach some might say

You dont give much detail about the circuit - is it the existing cooker circuit with 32A or 45A protection if so then it would be against the regs. Check out reg 433.2

It's on a 32amp mcb which feeds the cooker and hob via the isolator then via the outlet plate. They also moved the isolator switch but joined the old cable with 15amp connectors behind a wall cupboard. No capping or tube on the cable left hanging out of the chase. They also put a 5amp fuse on the plug which is for the hood which clearly states max 3amp. No wonder they don't issue a certificate or notify it.

Any the no would be helpful if anyone knows them of their head as I need to do a report on it.

Thanks

Tell me about it they tried to charge 6 grand for it and its ****. Could of done better myself

Cowboys sounds about right. If you have been asked to look at somebodies work I guess the person who has asked you is not happy. Speak with your customer to see what they are after and why? I would suggest that you list everything you have found wrong then look at the regs to back you up, price to put it right and maybe charge for a part inspection if possible. Your customer will need to get it put right and will need to either withhold payment to the kitchen fitters or go to court to recover the correction fee.

This forum no doubt will help with regs and such
