Old Gas cooker is being replaced with a cooker that has an electric oven and gas rings. Existing supply for gas ignition was via a switched fused spur from the ring. With cable then running diagonally (not exposed) to a flex outlet!

To run a new cable would be a very big job. Rating of cooker is 2900W. I know the regs suggest that cookers over 2kW should be on their on radials.

Existing SFS would be directly above the new cooker rings (cooker is wider). So my thoughts are:

a) Blank off existing SFS and keep ring continuity
b) Remove a 2g socket nearby (not over cooker rings) and replace with a cooker switch and run 4mm T&E in trunking to a point behind the cooker, into a flex outlet.

Should be OK?

That works out you could run that on a 13a plug top. So if you run 2.5 from a 13 switched FCU hey presto. But maybe not your old one as the position is right above the hob :)
