Hi, i searched on the forums but cold not find anything to answer my question.

When looking at the back of a cooker iv just bought, there seems to be terminals 1,2,3,4,5 and earth

1,2,3 are for live and 4,5 are for neutral.

My question is, when connecting the cooker up, I would put the live into terminal 1, but some one mentioned to me that there has to be a connection between 1,2, and 3 for the cooker to work? same with neutral (4,5), is this true?

Thanks for any help.

hi

yes this is true but the links are usually already there in the terminals. there is usually a diagram on or near the connections hav a look 2 c if there is any an if so wat they say

hope this helps

I think you are going down the right lines. However I strongly recommend reading the manual and checking the wiring diagram. I have done a few hobs where this is how they are wired, I wired in 6mm and linked between the 3 lives. I think they are designed to be used in countries that have a 3 phase supply for the cookers. Some come with links to install, like in motors. Check if there are any links in with the manuals.

Hi, thanks for the replies.

When looking at the terminals they seemed to be some small thin gold plates that moved when unscrewing the terminals, I am starting to think that they connect the terminals together, ill have a look tomorrow to make the other terminals that are not been used are all screwed tight.

The instruction book did not say anything about putting a link in my self and non came with the cooker so maybe it is already linked and the other terminals are not tight.

I will have a look tomorrow.

Thank you

I have a nice big rangemaster at home, and it came pre-linked, but the manual stated this was for single or 3 phase depending on the supply. If using 3 phase, disconnect teh link strip and wire the phases accordingly, basically 1 phase per oven and one for the grill.

Everything you need will be in the manual, if you dont have it, try the manufacturers website for a download version....
