Hi unable to post in DIY forum for some reason.
The power went off yesterday evening. On resetting at the fuse board the cooker switch remained down/off. If I switch this back on all the power trips again.
It's a Candy built in electric oven with a gas hob. The cooker was not in use at the time.
In the morning a mug of coffee was spilled over the work surface and hob. Could some damp have got into the wiring? Is it worth waiting a while to see if it sorts itself out?
Chris

very likely that the coffee is the culprit. other possibility is a faulty element. if all cooker controls are off, and it still trips, then give it some warmth, let it dry ouy, then try it again. if that fails, come back here as there are several members in your area could sort it for you.

Just to say thanks yes it must have been the spillage.
Gave it a bit of heat and left it 'airing'.
Cautiously switched it back on today and everything back to normal!
