Might be doing my first full kitchin re-wire in a few weeks. For cookers, do you normally have them on a mcb or rcbo?
Thanks!

cheers poeple!
My next question was going to be about RCD protection, I didnt think you would normally put an oven / cooker on the RCD side. With the kitchen being a special location do the prescribed zones still apply? As the cable will need to run up the wall to an oven isolator switch.
Basic I know, but never having done a kitchen I dont know and want to know before I start doing anything

does it not come under pools and other basins as it contains a sink?
I thought thats why any work carried out in a kitchen was notifiable?
early monday morning! lol
But back to rcd, are ovens and cookers left off the rcd as they have high leakage current?

wait, its tuesday! lol

cheers! Was just reading up on it and read about the switch wiith socket needs to be on rcd side.
I remember reading on here somewhere that a few thought it not ideal to have a socket on the oven / cooker isolator switch.
Would you say ÂŁ50 per downlight is a lot? It's what they where told but another spark, thoguht it was a bit much myself

Not sure. I only spoke to her briefly, she said neighbour had two sparks in. One started then left. Had another come finish the job (was a whole house re-wire) charged over 10k to finish it off, said she had mood lighting an all sorts and was charged ÂŁ50 per downlight. I would assume it was installing as well. But 10k for doing half the job of a re-wire of a 4 bed house!
Did see some of the work the first spark did. Was terriable, ring circuits clipped to the wall diagonally, using inspection bends in the conduit which was layed in the concret floor, then he forgot where he layed all the cables when the plaster went up. They werent too happy when that happened as they where already way behind and had to take it all down lol.

ex husband paid for it all too! Extension and full house make over. Then we hear her complaining and arguing with him that she wants more. Had a hot tube fitted a few weeks back too. I'm just glad I never offered to do it. I think I would have gone mad with ther constant 'I want I want'.
But I would be in the cash flow :p
