Basically after one for heat shrink, just wondered which one others use. Have been thinking about a Weller.

I don't have a cordless one anymore. I used to use it so infrequently it was always dead by the time I needed to use it.

gas soldering iron, using small blowlamp nozzle, but care not to burn the sleeving.

Agreed would use a heat gun on larger shrink or not in a confined space, but when it's fiddly and singles in trunking or such like a Butane cordless with a deflector is alot more manageable.

PORTASOL PRO-PIEZO FLAME DEFLECTOR TIP (each) : Soldering Shop

Thanks lads .........though I can see one of my H&S head aches coming on here lol ................over here we don't use a lot of shrink, but I'd hate to let some loose on a cable and a naked flame lolk

yeah, malcolm, but we're all cowboys over here . that's why they brought in part pee.

I had a portasol gas iron about ten years ago that had about four different attachments , solder tip , hot knife , gas flame blow torch and a hot air blow torch . I cant remember how the last attachment worked but it was perfect for heat shrink .

I have had two of that exact Weller one, the first one I have had for years and was/is brilliant. I used it mainly for soldering, but did a little heat shrinking with it too.
The second newer one was not so good and a couple of times while using it as a soldering iron, a "ball of flame" shot out of the side of it near the tip, and nearly left me eyebrowless so I'm not sure I can give a full recommendation.
