Evening all

Just wasted the morning trying to replace some old white socket fronts with these great looking brushed nickel versions, but had to give up as the 25 mm backboxs were too shallow. Especially the sockets where someone has spured off twice. 4 X 2.5 T/E cables in 25 mm wont go.
I recon the Crabtree sits 10 mm deeper in the box than the old ones.

Having never used these screwless plates before, has anyone had any experience of these popping off with use. I dont fancy getting called out to put them back on.

Thanks

I have used them in the past (not through my own choice) and they are fine if your walls are nice and flat and your boxes flushed back. The fronts can pop off but only if you screw the backplate back too tight causing it to bend slightly.
By the way not sure if the ones I used were Crabtree branded or not, but definately the screwless style.

it's not just the clueless sockets give trouble. some of the stainless screw on type are so tight in the back box, you can't adjust them for level.

I really can't understand what peoples facination with flatplate, or srewless sockets is!!! Is it really that bad that people can't face 5mm of socket sticking out of the wall??! Their a bloody nightmare to fit and still don't always sit right.

End of rant.

Crabtree recommend a minimum box depth of 35mm for sockets, FSUs, control switches, dimmers and communication accessories. 45mm for CCUs. 55mm for shaver supply units. 16mm for light switches.

Agree with Richard - are we really so concerned about a socket sticking out and extra few mm? Does it matter? Daz

I hate them, i installed some in a kitchen extension for a lady. Two weeks later she called me back to change them back to white ones because she said they never look clean when the kids have malled them with there grubby fingers...lol.
