What CC & DC processors do you guys use?

Have been using Paypal Virtual terminal up until now which has been fine for payments over the phone etc.

Have done some ringing around to get a proper terminal for a shop were moving into but having probs- Apparently I'm in a high risk industry lol

I use a mobile streamline machine that I got via corgi years ago but use the federation of small businesses for my deal with streamline now. I pay 1.5% with SL against corgi's 2.5% on credit cards and 29p for debit cards.

Brilliant, I did speak to the FSB about this and had some good advice- Just got to update website a bit and 'hopefully' they can help

We use HSBC for our merchant account and take payments via Sagepay. Paypal phoned the other day and offered a good flat rate compared to what im paying.

Have you read paypals terms? they screwed us twice the first time holding thousands of pounds paid into our account " to protect us " holding the money for 180 days and making us jump through hoops to prove we owned the goods we had supplied and installed. It went on and on with them asking us in the end to provide information from our suppliers, customer, invoices until in the end I gave them seven days notice of legal proceedings which led to them phoning me from Ireland on the 6ht day saying they were happy to give us our money and pointing out that anyone who signs up to an paypal account agrees to them holding your money for 180 days when they see fit. Some months after that they did the same thing restricting access to our account and wanting the same information as before this time though I threatened legal action immediately and got a call from Luxembourg I think telling me they would lift the restrictions. Do not leave money in any paypal account get it out as quickly as you can :(

They collared me with a 10% hold for 3 Months- Saying that, the 10%'s from November came in handy January and Feb.

Asked to have it lifted many a time but just get ignored. Hence looking for a better provider.

@somecamel, thats the set up i have now with HSBC, 22p per DC and 2.9% MC and V.

Solarsavings, yes good point and he did warn me they may hold a retainer. sounds like cheaper isnt better in this instance.

God we must be in the dark ages. Cheque and bank transfer only. I'm damned if I'm going to pay someone else to give me my customers' cash. Never been asked to provide anything else but was aksed to take 3k deposit in cash once. I asked him to bring a cheque instead and he happily did.
