I suppose it depends if the insulation is damaged or not or fitted correctly.

There should be no copper showing and then should wrap in heat shrink or good old tape.

why do people wrap them with tape or heat shrink? if you install them correctly, with a proper crimper, and the right amount of copper stripped, then i dont see the point of taping/shrinking them up.

Unless of course its a damaged cable, and you are burying it in plaster, not in a JB.

buried is what I was meaning, sorry if unclear.

but, if they do happen to work loose the tape etc will hold them from falling out????
ooh is that good or bad loose terminations and all?

Just out of interest its acceptable to extend cable for CCU / Socket etc via crimps.
Not so sure if left unfixed though?

.

otherwise they wouldn't be properly insulated? same as if you run singles everywhere, cant be bothered to go upstairs for the book to look up the reg no.

I got slapped wrists if there were any inner cores showing outside of accessories, crimps/heatshrink is the same difference imo.

The job is Located in Leicester, iv completed the job, just waitng for a mate to inspect it. I assume it should pass cos i used a proper rachet crimping tool n also its a nice strong joint.

thanx guys
