I have taken on a job which I probably should have not and have now come unstuck.

1 - Boiler VITODENS 100-W supplying two zone valves. From valve one to central heating for house and need new thermostat. Apparrently no volt free connections on boiler and have run 1.5 t/e for thermostat intending to wire back to zone valve inturn back to boiler. Is this correct or do I need to change something.

2 - Second zone valve supply to new UFH in new extension. Manifold has three actuators. One for bathroom and second amnd third both for bedroom. can i use volt free thermstats or do i need to change them and 1.5 t/e installed.

Plasterer moving in on me and little chance to change wires next day or two.

Urgent assistance appreciated:confused:

sidekick, i am certainly no expert on central heating but can see you in a dilemma with no replies as yet - i have always used 3 core and earth for thermostats, including UFH stats, as some need the neutral. Always better to have that extra core in case you need it. just had a quick look at some instructions for a VITODENS and it looks on there like you only need the 2 cores so you may get away with the t&e to terminals 3 & 4 in the boiler - it doesnt say on there, but there may be a link in those terminals already and you will need to remove it!
Not too sure about the UFH for this scenario without looking at all the destructions, but i think you will need at least a three core between the sets of controls. i would imagine where your manifold is in the extension, the UFH pump will be too so that will need a feed

hope this helps a little

Thanks for your help. Still leaves me a little confused on the boiler connections. see attached diagram for what i thought was correct. Any thoughts???

you should have 5 cores in the boiler...is there?

live neutral earth and then put grey in 3 and black in 4

I currently have only run 4 core to L, N, E AND 1. The only other terminals are L AND N agian where a three wire stat would be coneccted to 1, L AND N as per attached diagram. No terminal marked 3 and 4
