To obtain the readings R1+RN/4 and R1+R2/4
at each socket outlet, when the crossover connections have been made at the CU.

If using a modern all in one tester like an MFT1552, is this test swift using a 3 pin plug or are you having to use probes to select the particular pins at every socket.

As far as I'm aware with the Megger, all you'll be able to test is the line-earth (R1+R2) reading, as these are connections available for live tests on the 3 pin socket. I know there is some sort of neutral connection in there, but not sure whether you'll be able to test continuity. If you want to go by the plug in method, you can actually get Socket and See plug tops that have the required connections so you can just plug your 3 lead set into them.

One thing I have found when testing using the normal plug lead with the Megger, is that on some sockets one side has a significantly higher reading when on the 200mA test, which may throw a new person off if they're expecting all the sockets to be around the same value. It certainly confused me for a bit!!

The link to the plug top I was talking about is here: -

Whats wrong with just making up a plug top with flying leads and connectors i use this method works a treat cheers spike
