Cscs cards

Hi there does anybody know if you can obtain a cscs card without being graded by jib ? Any help welcome cheers

the cscs is separate from the jib grading, just book into a ctr and take the test. they are about 30 quid

Cheers for that but what will it say on card as your skill without a jib grading canyou just send city& guilds ?

Hi tony, your confusing cscs card with an ecs card.

Cscs does not state what trade you are. It proves that you've passed a basic site safety exam.
Ecs is electrical safety that is combined with jib. The jib part of the same card rates your abilities and gives you a grading. Some foremen won't allow an electrician on site with just a cscs card.

We have all been suckerd in to this jib thing me included chap, you cant go on site unless you pay for a card even if you have done the assesment and have the certificate, its all a con. Now what they have come up with is if you dont get on a NVQ level 3 course by the end of this month they will only grade you as a labourer why cos its all about the money £700 to £1500 to do it dep on who you do it with.
Things could be so much easier if they alow the local council to certificate you, show them your grades from city and guilds and you get a photo id card issued, along with permits to work for certain jobs and only allow card holders to purchase things that require a skilled electrician to install. little bit like the united states of.

P.S. if you dont get on a course by the end of month you will have to complete an AM2, a Diploma, attend college and site visits and the cost of this ermm about £2000.

Thanks for the info think an nvq level 3 it is then any body know how long to complete roughly ?

it can be done in as little time as 3 moths max 3 years.

i have all same quals just no nvq i was told that these always stood for ( not very qualified ) but now it seems as tho they are saying you are not qualified unless you have one . By the way who are you doing yours with ?

and as for the NVQ same thing i was told in the 80s. City & Guilds was the one to get.
