Cscs?

is a CSCS certificate a must if trying to pursue an Electricians Mate vocation?
im currently on overheads, but wouldnt mind venturing into othere trades within the industry, if CSCS is a must, how do i go about taking one?

Regards

Hey mate, look up ECS assesment, costs about £30 I think, its a half hour money making, tick box exam you can do near you!
You could then apply for a CSCS labourer card, or a JIB Trainee card, I would probably go for the latter.

I would say its pretty important to get one if you are going to be working on Decent sites.

Hi there, yes cscs is very important as nearly ALL sites will want to see your card/certificate, it is a money making scheme but hey the whole country's gone bonkers.
As already said, costs bout 30 quid but well worth it in the long run. Hope this helps;);)

thankyou :)

whats the difference between the two? and would you recommend sparkying as opposed to OHL work? im stuck between the two? if you want to read into my full story why, its on the "Electricians Unit" Page of the Forum,

cheers fella

Well cscs is construction skills something, Where as JIB is Joint industry board for electrical industry. But the exam you would sit would be the same, as JIB counts as a CSCS card. If you look on the JIb website mate, you might be able to get your linesmans quals added to the card, I know they cater for most in the electrical industry.

Construction Skills Certification Scheme. The Electrotechnical Certification Scheme ECS test is different. Upon completion you will be able to apply for a JIB card with your grade on. This is the way to go if you want to get work on site. They are getting increasingly fussy.

difference is in the questions, the ECS one will have more electrically biased questions
