I'm doing a consumer unit change for my Part P assessment and I am unsure as to what I should write on the periodic inspection label for the date of last inspection and date of next inspection. I've noticed other posts saying that I should write "CU CHANGE ONLY" on the label but I'm not sure where I should write this.

Is it "CU CHANGE ONLY" for date of last inspection and Nov 2021 for the date of next inspection (even though I have not actually carried out a periodic inspection)?

BTW. The existing consumer unit has no periodic inspection label, so there's no last or next inspection dates at the moment

Hi,

If you are replacing the CU, you will fill in an EIC form for this, this is sort of a cross between an EIC and a PIR in this situation (if Iam explaining this right), there are boxes to tick on this EIC for (new install, addition etc.) with one schedule of inspections and one schedule of test results, as you have changed the characteristics of the entire installation, which will need inspecting and testing.

This will be the date of the last inspection (when you have tested and filled in this certificate), the date of the next inspection is dependent on a number of factors, ie. the condition of the wiring etc. (eg. if the wiring condition is poor, you can recommend an earlier 'next pir' date), and if the property is rented/residential (max. of 5 years or change of tenant) or private domestic (max of 10 years), you will decide this (within the limits already given) if it is you that is testing and inspecting.

I hope this helps you.
