i am doing some work on a fairly old house, the current cu is in a cupboard about 500mm above the ground. what are the thoughts on changing the height? can i leave it at the same height as it complied at the time of installation or does this not apply?
thanks for any guidance

The heights for building regs compliance only apply to new builds and substantial renovations/alterations where BC are involved.

Even if changing this CU it can stay where it is. Usual rules from the wiring regs about accessibility still apply.

Building control normally pretty cool with stuff like that so long as it’s accessible and practical.......

Are you new to electrical contracting as I would have thought you'd be familiar with Scottish Building Standards? They state somewhere that you are required to comply even if a warrant isn't required. Given that it is a substantial amount of work (in your words) then is there a warrant? Either way just comply like every other job?

If your in Scotland your building regs are different to the England and generally stricter so check with building control.
