In some houses the CU (and meters etc) are mounted onto a wooden board. I am lead to believe that this is 'treated' wood so there is no creation of a fire risk to mount the CU and any other electrical equip onto it.
How do we confirm that this is actually the case or do you guys play it safe and try to mount the CU (assuming a CU change) onto the plaster wall or do you use a backing or do you just rely on the plastic back of the CU itself?
My thoughts (without reading the detail in the BS std to which CU's are manufactured) is that the CU manufacture/ BS std takes this into account.
